SETTING
'Setting' stones - what does that mean?
Our gold jewelry often features stones such as diamonds, zirconias, and semi-precious stones like quartz, agate, onyx, and mother of pearl. We use a technique called "setting" to affix stones. Each setting style gives the stones a unique appearance and influence.
Here are the settings we use:
- Pavé Setting: Ideal for smaller stones, placed closely together to create the impression of a larger, continuous surface of sparkle.
- Chaton Setting: Also known as the claw setting, it uses 4 or 6 wire prongs to hold the stone on a resting board, allowing maximum light to enhance its sparkle.
- Illusion Setting: Similar to the chaton setting but uses multiple stones arranged with wire prongs to create the illusion of a larger stone.
- Rail Setting: Stones are slid into a groove made in the jewelry piece, fitting seamlessly, especially with rectangular stones.
- Smooth Setting: Holes are drilled to fit stones precisely, resulting in a sleek, modern look.
Each setting style affects the jewelry's overall look, whether modern, playful, or classic, influencing your choice of rings, bracelets, earrings, or necklaces.
Ten Fingers offers a bespoke stone setting service that exceeds expectations. At the heart of our approach lies a dedication to collaboration, where designers' visions are not only welcomed but celebrated. Our artisans eagerly embrace innovative ideas, working hand in hand with clients to explore new frontiers in stone setting, resulting in creations that are as unique as they are exquisite.
